Welcome!

It's time to introduce yourselves! Use the form below to get out there and start plotting. New and old players alike are encouraged to post to the Intro & CR.

A mingle log will be posted on June 8.
While we won't be doing intro/mingle logs every application round, we'll have one for the first two rounds (June and August) to help everyone get settled! You can also check out the Bulletin for information on weather, broadcasts, and incidents.

Notes

• Characters can arrive in-game on any date throughout the month of the TDM. This means characters do not have to, and typically will not, arrive all at once. Arrivals will be scattered and more difficult to predict. Use this to stagger CR, give characters a couple weeks without seeing each other, or whatever you feel makes it interesting!
• Since base AC is low, players need to make AC for their first month. TDM threads continued into the month are perfectly acceptable as long as the comments submitted take place in the current month.

Updates

• We've made some updates to the Invites page to reflect the game's current player cap status and added a player cap count to the Taken page. Our player cap is formally 70 players. The FAQ has also been updated to reflect these changes.
• A reminder that the 2 characters per round allocation was for the first round only. Moving forward, all players, current and new, can only apply for one character per app round. (You may still have a total of 2 characters.)

About: SPOILERS FOR ARCANE S2 Jayce is a high INT low WIS former golden boy who watched his dream of bringing magic to the masses via magitech fall apart SPECTACULARLY. He honestly thought he was about to be atomized right before he got here, so, surprised to be alive! Has lots of GUILT about his actions in the past year, and is still probably suffering some PTSD from a stint in an alternate universe apocalypse realm.

He's brought an eldritch horror with him.

Wanted CR:

☑ Magic folks? His lifelong obsession was with magic but that went south REAL BAD, so I would like for him to reconcile this in game in some way

Plots/Plans:
Jayce arrived early-ish in the TDM month and was doing some warehouse work for cash while familiarizing himself with the tech here. I would like to get him more involved with work in the Scrapyard soon, and possibly with fixing the the Rail when that becomes available. He is generally going to try to keep a low-ish profile after the events of his canon, trying to get his feet back under himself physically and mentally.

Also, Jayce's lower left leg suffered a pretty gnarly compound fracture that spent weeks/months healing in a magically corrupted apocalypse universe that transmutes everything organic/inorganic within it. The mods are allowing me to keep the corruption in that leg, so even when covered it might be possible for anyone with super senses or magic types to sense something off about it. I can go into more detail if that's of interest to you. Currently, he's using a brace to get around and adapting to the disability since it never had time to properly set/heal. In the future we might be trying to do more to remove the corruption, out of fear that it might spread through the rest of his body.

Limits: The usual, I'm down for all sorts of juicy arguments leading to complicated CR, negative CR is cool as long as it's not just bashing heads with no end goal!

About: Mysterious administrator of an undersea prison, tea enthusiast, secret nerd masquerading as a jock (accomplished boxer). Wriothesley is a man who spent most of his life fighting to survive, first out on the streets and then in prison...though it might be hard to tell on first meeting. He presents as friendly and affable, generally easy to get along with as long as you don't repeatedly push his buttons. Or break the law. Or kill people for fun, or threaten them. Has a soft spot for kids because his own childhood was shitty and in general wants people to be able to live their lives free of fear and oppression. Since his backstory does contain several heavy themes, I do have an opt-out here that you can use if you'd like to avoid specific themes or his character entirely.

Wanted CR: The obligatory anything.....When it comes to new CR I usually do best with throwing spaghetti against the wall and seeing what sticks, so I'm happy to toss our characters together and see what happens, regardless of whether or not you think they'll vibe. Wriothesley has a pretty affable personality, so he tends to mesh well with most characters regardless of if they're more withdrawn or outgoing. Happy to say that our characters are coworkers or living in the same area or always grab coffee at the same cafe every morning for some easy handwaved CR.

Plots/Plans: Just vibing and getting settled in for now so no real plans!

Limits: Nothing I can think of at the moment.

About: Logan is a mutant who's been around for a while. His brain is swiss cheese thanks to the government and various incidents*, so he's got a significant case of amnesia and trauma out the ass. He does remember his past in bits and pieces, but the bulk of his memories are limited to the past 30-ish years. This Logan comes from the year 2023 in Days of Future Past, meaning his world is currently besieged by machines called Sentinels, designed to hunt down and exterminate all of mutant kind. He's no a stranger to time travel, but he's not really an expert in it, either. They just put him on a table and said "Good luck" and sent him off.

At this canon point, Logan firmly considers himself one of the X-Men. He's spent the past few years fighting a losing war, and will be protective of other mutants/mutant-aligned folks. He's gruff, a wildcard, and has a temper as short as his comic counterpart, but he tries his best to not fuck things up. Once he's on your side, you'll have a meat shield at your disposal. Favours cigars and whiskey.

*Please don't ask me to explain the Fox X-Men timeline and events.

Wanted CR:
— If you have a ye olde, he can help out with mechanical aspects and other handyman repairs.

— Friends!! Logan isn't the cuddliest, but he can and does make conversation if he's in the mood. As much as Logan walls himself off out of habit and a desire to protect himself, he's regularly returned to the X-Men for a reason, and he's not as solitary as he pretends to be.

— Any time travellers or people who know about time travelling. Logan is looking for answers about what his dip into the past might've done. Their intention was to fix the future, but...well.

— Others from apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic/dystopian universes. On that note, other outcasts will strike a chord with him easily, particularly if the stigmatization is due to one's abilities/species/something they were simply born with.

Plots/Plans:
— RE: TDM threads, a few I wrapped up/am in the process of wrapping up, but I'm happy to continue any that are still in the meaty parts. For the ones that are casually meet-and-greet, I'm gonna let those go if that's okay! But I'm fully up for starting something new. Logan's just not much of a small talk guy.

— I've had Logan working graveyard shifts stocking shelves and other similar jobs. He's mostly been doing this because 1) his sleep sucks; and 2) he's sharing a motel room with Charles and figures he might as well work the nights so they're not in each other's way all the time. I would be down for CR that stems from people who are working the same job/shift!

— He's been exploring/scavenging the diffusion zones since he's looking after Charles, too, at the moment. If you want to run into him out there, get in trouble in his vicinity, or cause trouble in his vicinity, I'm up for all those things.

— As one of the X-Men, Logan will be working with (what's left of) the team, including (deep sigh) Scott Summers. A friend of one of the X-Men is...uh, not necessarily immediately a friend of his, but he'll at least hear you out instead of slamming the door.

— His healing factor is fairly robust and I'm happy to use this for shenanigans or anything you want. He's been disembowelled, shot, and nuked, and he survives it all. He makes for a pretty good bodyguard as a result.

Limits: Nothing I can think of for now! I just ask if CR starts mega antagonistic/aggressive out of the gate that you discuss it with me before you dive in with that because Logan can, and has, stabbed people for less. Mildly negative CR is fine, though! Logan can be an asshole; he's liable to attract other assholes.

About: Charles is the future beloved leader of the X-Men and a bright and curious individual who loves unique differences in people. That usually means teaching mutants about their powers, but it's not limited to that in this world, he's genuinely interested in everyone's different skills or backgrounds. He just recently went through a very bad time of years of depression and borderline alcoholism but he's very slowly on the mend into optimism again. He's not quite there yet, he's still a little grumpy. He is permanently in a wheelchair and he is currently struggling with the VERY LOUD NOISE of people's thoughts that are surrounding him in this city setting. As a powerful telepath, it very much sucks! Please reply to my Opt-Out/In post below with how you feel about telepathy and Charles, I won't do anything without permission either way on him.

Wanted CR: I'm pretty open to anything! Charles is extroverted and he likes people. He's been isolated the past few years but he's remembering that he enjoys chatting and learning about others.

Plots/Plans: Honestly just vibing right now! Charles is reuniting with his loved ones / meeting a few of his future students, and sort of adjusting to life. He hasn't found a job yet and may give up the ghost of one he likes and settle for something tolerable. Maybe someday I'll find him something good. For now he's here trying to adjust and not go crazy from the many voices in his head.

About: Jack is a half-archangel Nephilim, the son of Lucifer (yes the Devil), but you wouldn't know it from meeting him. He is a kind and sensitive individual who has only been on earth three years and it has been a packed and violent for years. He's died three times and he will eventually become the new God, but he isn't there yet. He is inexperienced and sheltered due to his extreme power (see details at my app) and instability surrounding it. He is desperate for connection and friendship but not very good at people. Yet! His blunt honesty and immediate trust in others can make him seem strange and naive, but he means very well. 

Wanted CR: ANYTHING. Like I said above Jack is desperate for friends and he will cling to anyone who is remotely nice to him. He is a sweet person and deeply loyal to those he bonds with. Anyone who might have connections to angels/demons/supernatural things would be fun, even if they get the divine vibe from him and are like 'oh no thank you.' If you want your character to be able to glean from him that he has a lot of holy power and is not human, go for it.

Plots/Plans: Like Charles I'm mostly vibing with him right now and settling him in! Jack has already gotten at least two jobs (at the bowling alley and supermarket) because he doesn't sleep much and he is serious about gathering money for his debt and for his loved ones.

Viktor used to be a regular scientist guy whose work involved harnessing magical forces via technological means. He made a magic supercomputer with the hopes it would cure his terminal illness but instead got merged with it against his will so now he is a magic supercomputer! Unfortunately this means he is also a Higher Being™ who has come to the conclusion that humanity is its own worst enemy and cannot be trusted with things like """emotions""". 5 minutes before arriving here he got Power of Love'd into giving up his plan to hivemind the world. This is his rehabilitation vacation.

Wanted CR:

✷ science types, fellow curious minds, similar individuals who genuinely want to help the people here. If you’re an engineer or a mechanic or another scientifically-inclined individual he would like to connect and swap notes
✷ magic-users or fellow psychics. Viktor kind of scientifically engineered himself into being a mage and then into being god, so he’s kind of figuring out what that means, and also how to live with himself
✷ people who probably have Something to Say about the fact that he’s an 8’ tall eldritch horror.
✷ idk reformed villains. for commiserative purposes. He’s really sorry for trying to do the human instrumentality project.

Plots/Plans:

✷ Viktor is going to be pretty invested with keeping Jayce alive, which means getting some kind of machine repair job and ideally getting involved in the Scrapyard. Fixing things is something he can do, and having caused a great deal of calamity with his magic powers he is sort of looking forward to getting back to his engineering/inventing roots.
✷ besides all of his weird baggage he IS a scientist and will at the very least enjoy discovering new technology and meeting new people.
✷ learning about the multiverse! his Last Known Activity™ was peacing out into parts unknown so he’s pretty primed for this and will be very “this might as well happen” about it.
✷ More existentially, Viktor is no longer human and trying to figure out what that means. There is no going back from his transformation, but he’s now fully aware of what his plan to eliminate human suffering almost wrought (the apocalypse), so he’ll need to spend some time figuring out his emotions again and re-learning how to be himself.

Limits: I’m all good hit me with whatever. I WILL ask that you kindly hit up Viktor’s powers opt-in if you’re interested in playing around with his telepathy/mind reading for CR hooks and otherwise.

Don't worry about it I'm sure he's normal and well-adjusted and holy shit no wait nevermind. A good dude, generally, but guarded and with baggage galore. If he gives off the aura of someone who used to be a spy or bodyguard or CIA FBI EIEIO no he doesn't where did you hear that shh.

Wanted CR: I'm gonna do the boring person thing who's bad at decisions and say ALL OF IT. Positive, negative, neutral af. Gimmie. Let me consume.

Plots/Plans: Since being here, he's been up to getting into construction/carpentry shit for cash money bc he was already good at it back home and it keeps him occupied and physical, but he's also been going to the Dome to fight club things out for extra cash and to let out a little violence. So he does occasionally sport odd injuries or bruises that weren't there the day before. He's also already uhhhhh mcfuckin drowned his ass out in a diffusion zone (thanks for the mouth to mouth, frank) so like. He might have some [waggles hand] thoughts about death and dying and this place.

Mostly keeps to himself, though he's been occasionally around to be mildly helpful, mildly annoying, or someone to talk at.

About: MINOR SPOILERS FOR EXPEDITION 33 PREMISE
The non-spoiler TL;DR is that every year, this entity called the Paintress writes a number on a giant monolith in the distance. When that number appears, anyone who is that age or older instantly dies. We're at 33 now, so things are pretty damn dire.

Sciel is a farmer turned school teacher, now an expeditioner on a mission to stop the horrible creature that continues to threaten their world. She's easygoing, loves fighting, wields a scythe (that didn't come with her), and she's got some minor astromancy going on. She has a pack of cards (which may or may not be tarot cards) that she uses to buff her party and herself, and she likes doing big damage. Despite being the peacekeeper of her party and the emotional rock, Sciel harbors a great deal of grief in her life, and it keeps her going. She has a pragmatic view of the world but veers others towards hopefulness. She's also exceedingly perceptive about people and things (kind of like a hunter) and just has a great deal of empathy for the people around her. Aaaand she's pretty silly sometimes too. c:

Wanted CR: Obligatory "friends, allies, etc." for everything. Sciel likes people! She likes hanging out with people and helping them. If you wanted a supportive friend, that's her!

CR Options: More hopeful people to help her stay the course, other perceptive types. Magical colleagues (bonus for other astromancers or similar star/celestial bodies-lovers)! Big fighter types or want to trade blows for funsies.

Sciel is easy to get CR with but it's likely going to be a bit more "shallow" on her end, as she doesn't open up so easily about herself; however, she gives her whole heart towards other people and their struggles, and will easily offer anything she can to others.

Plots/Plans: Sciel will be uniting/reuniting with her crew and will be running interference in their shenanigans. But overall, she wants to see this world and figure it out, help the people in the city and whatnot. While she's driven to go back home (bc of the whole...ticking clock thing and the number on the monolith), she also wants to experience what this world has to offer. And she got a cool car! She does want to figure out food sources as the place looks pretty bad, and as a farmer she's interested in the agriculture here. (Are there monsters? Can she go fight monsters for people??)

Otherwise, we're just vibing.

Limits: Nothing really, though I will be avoiding outright spoilers everywhere and anywhere for at least another month in case people want. When there are spoilers, they'll be marked.

About: Catboy time wizard who is your number one hype-man! Seriously, he is big on making himself useful and helping out his friends. G'raha is a historian with an expertise in ancient magical technology but is also just excited to learn and explore new things. He can speak in a somewhat grandiose manner at times and is very, very ready to sacrifice himself to the point it annoys his friends. He's technically two versions of himself fused into his younger body. (It's a long story.) He's rediscovering his love of food and has been known to break into restricted sections of the library for #forbiddenknowledge. He is very short (5'2") and learned a spell so he can reach high shelves. Terrible at lying. His ears and tail give it all away. He's voiced by Johnathan Bailey.

Wanted CR: Oh SO very open! We've just started so I'm excited to see where things go.

Plots/Plans:

💠 He's definitely! Going to want to try and figure out how people are being pulled here. (He has a history with traveling across rifts of spacetime.) And while he doesn't have the VERY important resources with him here, he still feels like it's something of a duty to investigate it.

💠 Likewise, I would like for some experimentation with magic based on local resources to go horribly wrong in some fashion. We'll see.

💠 ROAD TRIP! It's fun.

Henry is the big bad of the series (unless s5 does a wild swerve), but he is taken before his Vecna-fication. He still has a lot of anger and issues he needs to work through (or not), though, so don't worry — still ripe for all the drama!

Since he's new, I'm down for anything at all — he's been trapped in an underground lab for 20 years of his life, so he'll be working towards reacclimating slowly to living in a society (ugh) for a while.

Wanted CR: not to be a total cliche, but i'm genuinely open to anything. looking for friends, found family types of things, people from similar canons or who have similar traumatized backgrounds that they can really bond over. the thing about jyn is that even if she's a little prickly, she really can form bonds with all kinds of different people. also, mildly negative cr with someone who just annoys her for no real reason is funny too, so i'm also up for that. i would be up for hookups, etc, and i would also be up for romantic cr if things went that way, but do keep in mind it would be a slowburn because. whew.

former mercenary turned vigilante, embarrassingly violent, sort of (but not really) the son of an ancient egyptian moon god that demands vengeance.

mk is a man that has died MULTIPLE TIMES and has what he admits is an addiction to violence, but despite his history as a mercenary and status as a war criminal, he's ultimately — now — well-meaning, he simply has precisely zero chill.

there is a very solid chance he'll introduce himself as 'moon knight' or 'mr. knight' and will make a mask out of, idk, a bedsheet or similar. given his canon point, he's very certain he's dead, and in a similar vein to moench's resurrection wars, marc's convinced this isn't entirely real.

but, like, that's fine. that's just what happens when you're him.

Wanted CR:

other vigilante types, anyone that is even remotely conflicted about themselves as a person (marc has a lot of experience with that! he may not be good with advice, but you know).

he's not the easiest guy to make friends with, but people that are knocking on that door would be grand — despite everything, he's surprisingly (remarkably!) tolerant, especially of people who are seeking some kind of redemption or dealing with guilt and/or trying to be better than they've typically been. he's a dick, but like... he gets it, ya feel?

PAST THIS, i have zero intentions and plans. mk is a guy that, despite everything, will mostly vibe.

he will just be out and about in what amounts to a three-piece suit in varying states of bloodiness, no, he won't be bothered by it. he will also set himself up as some kind of neighborhood friendly... moon... man, because that's where he's at in canon, he's just a little WEIRD about it.

About: Fern is a shifter! Meaning she's not quite a werewolf, but something in-between. She always has some canine/bestial features, but she can briefly shift into a more animalistic form, usually in battle or when crashing out in some way. She and a few others ended up isekai'd into the land of Barovia (led by a super evil vampire lord) where she's been for the past month-plus, dealing with the Horrors pretty much every day. She's a rogue, so she's good at sneaking around, unlocking things, etc. She's distrusting and suspicious of others in general, and Barovia has just made that worse. Once she starts to trust someone or consider them a member of her "pack," though, she's ride or die.

Wanted CR: With everything so brand new, it really is just a matter of figuring out what character traits or background details might be good for CR, but! As a quick list:

➼ Any vampires, werewolves, or other supernatural creatures in a similar vein will almost certainly catch her interest. Vampires are definitely going to be heavily distrusted unless she's given a reason not to, but that might be fun.
➼ Anyone she can accidentally recognize as a race from Faerûn (elves, dwarves, halflings, etc etc.)
➼ Other people who feel like they don't really "belong" in normal society, she will likely feel drawn to or feel a kinship with once she realizes that.
➼ Anyone else want to sneak around in places and investigate stuff? She'll appreciate anyone who's good at keeping a low profile, like she does.
➼ Alternatively, good party composition means having some variety! A tank, healer, or magic glass cannon type to offset her rogue stuff would also make for some fun threads.
➼ Despite how prickly Fern might be, she really is someone who's just looking for a place to belong. She just tends to make that hard for herself, but I really would love anyone who would just aggressively befriend her.
➼ Lady friends? She's always stuck around stinky boys for some reason, but she more easily feels comfortable/gets along with women, historically speaking.
➼ If you've met that Adrian guy, Fern knows him pretty well. They were traveling together in Barovia, so chances are that he might have mentioned her in passing.

Plots/Plans: WELL, looking at the Bulletin, Fern is definitely going to be squinting at the blood donation racket that's going on, so I'll probably be sending the mods some questions about that, if anyone else was interested in exploring that little nugget of world flavor. Fern kinda needs to learn how to use her phone, too. She has one, but I don't think she fully grasps texting yet, so please, spam her inbox.

Work-wise, I think I'm going to have her working at whatever this world's version of an inn is, since she has some experience in that from when she was younger. Waiting tables, making up beds, etc. It's not luxurious, but she needs money.

I think she'll start exploring the diffusion zones because she's curious, and she'll also be looking out for the rest of her friends from Barovia because if Adrian is here, maybe so are the others. She'll be cautious but also willing to go into dangerous areas because she thinks she can handle herself, so... maybe someone to convince her she should have one buddy at least?

Regarding TDM threads, I'm down to keep them going but also might be looking to wrap up ones that are just basic introductions or small talk! We can get on to meatier things now that the game is open.

Limits: Nothing, really! Fern can get prickly and even aggressive depending, but she's usually good about not just immediately stabbing people, lmfao. If anything gets to that point, I'll definitely reach out, but she'll be less on-edge the longer she's here.

for lucina specifically — she's kind, friendly, serious, dutiful to a fault. every part the ye olde, honorable knight / soldier who's seen some shit and managed to keep a (delusional) hope anyway. will commit as much murder as it takes for her causes. horrific daddy's girl. officially named the cast's "least likely to get a joke". she has very little standards in general and her tastes are bad, so all this to say that for all the ways she looks put together she's actually kind of a loser.
Wanted CR: obligatory anything & everything — i'm super down to just pick up a thread and go!! let's see where things take us. for more specific(?) ideas:

• i was going to say she makes for a good older sister but i think she's actually. on the younger side of the game cast?? but the vibes are still there. she's from an army she's so good at building camaraderie and looking out for people.
• she's affable & friendly enough to befriend a lot of standoff-ish types! she'll run check ins regularly with friendlier faces (she got a phone and is currently very enamored with it) for some easy hand-waved cr.

• i've decided she's working in a construction site part time in place of proper training (gotta get the cardio in...) for folks she'd have run into! honestly she'd just pick up a bunch of odd jobs as long as it's physical, so i can swing just about anything.
