Welcome!

It's time to introduce yourselves! Use the form below to get out there and start plotting. New and old players alike are encouraged to post to the Intro & CR.

A mingle log will be posted on June 8.
While we won't be doing intro/mingle logs every application round, we'll have one for the first two rounds (June and August) to help everyone get settled! You can also check out the Bulletin for information on weather, broadcasts, and incidents.

Notes

• Characters can arrive in-game on any date throughout the month of the TDM. This means characters do not have to, and typically will not, arrive all at once. Arrivals will be scattered and more difficult to predict. Use this to stagger CR, give characters a couple weeks without seeing each other, or whatever you feel makes it interesting!
• Since base AC is low, players need to make AC for their first month. TDM threads continued into the month are perfectly acceptable as long as the comments submitted take place in the current month.

Updates

• We've made some updates to the Invites page to reflect the game's current player cap status and added a player cap count to the Taken page. Our player cap is formally 70 players. The FAQ has also been updated to reflect these changes.
• A reminder that the 2 characters per round allocation was for the first round only. Moving forward, all players, current and new, can only apply for one character per app round. (You may still have a total of 2 characters.)

About: castiel has disappointed those in his life he loves most. castiel is an angel — one of heaven's soldiers. he helped avert the apocalypse before nearly destroying heaven in an attempt to restore his home to his former glory. since then, he's been trying to make amends, to.... mixed results. at this point, he's nearly given up on himself.

castiel is coming from the canon point in which he's let lucifer take over his body because he's decided his own contributions were ineffectual and no longer required. his impotence extends beyond just this — even when dean tried to get him to come back, castiel seemed to have lost all motivation to help himself. now that he's been unceremoniously thrust back in control again, he's... existing, despite his best efforts. currently, he's in the process of building an unintentional slug farm with connor detroit and has spent a little time eating cat food in the cat food aisle (gotta make sure there are no harmful additives!!!) (you can find more general info about cas here, on his info page.)

Wanted CR: anything, honestly. positive, negative, utterly ridiculous. cas is a weird guy. a strange little man. there's not really anything off the table for me.

Plots/Plans: if anyone would like to help donate to the slug rescue service and slug farm (with more slugs) cas and i'm sure connor would both be very happy. otherwise, castiel has absolutely no motivation to do anything at the moment, though i'd like to shake him up as much as possible, whether through game events or cr that might challenge his passivity.

also, i'm considering TDM threads canon, unless you'd rather not! just give me a heads up.

also also, i would like cas to adopt one of the rat-sized termites. if this is possible. i'm sorry

Limits: there likely won't be any romancing cas (unless you're dean). otherwise, go wild. make friends, beat him up, whatever u want. just don't touch the slugs.

About: Benny Lafitte is a cute and cuddly Cajun vampire (with majoy murder and trust issues) from Carencro, Louisiana. Once a former (vam)pirate, he's now just trying REALLY HARD to be morally chill. Shit's hard, bro. Back home he went rogue for a pretty lady and got killed for it, then landed in Purgatory. He meets Dean Winchester and they proceed to trauma-bond over monster murder. He’s charming, calm, and deeply done with everyone’s bullshit. Basically a vampire with a conscience. Mostly. Ish.

Wanted CR/Plots/Plans: Benny's mostly been scoping out everything that the place has to offer, trying to make sure he stays fed so he doesn't go bananas. He actually kinda digs his car (obvs not this shiny), and does a lot of on the road driving to clear his head and stay calm.

I have no plan or plots - I want it all because I'm greedy as hell. Found family, maybe a fun fling, friends, whatever you got I want it. Only thing I'm not crazy about is negative CR just for the sake of it, but I'm all for some tensions ;)

About: Jonathan Strange is a fancy English wizard man (though he only uses the term magician, tyvm). He's a Regency England man who served in the English army during the peninsular campaign, did magic for the king, and helped bring back English magic. He's brash, arrogant, foolhardy, a bit of an ass, and SUPER fucking cursed (have fun noticing that, magic types!) He also served in the peninsula. Did he mention the peninsula?

Wanted CR:
- team magic!!! Strange is a nosy bitch who wants to learn anything and everything about magic. It's fun, it's neat, it's cool, tell him how you do your things! Fair warning, he might mansplain magic in return
- anybody who is willing to put up with Regency England over here not knowing what the fuck a car is.
- always up for making tdm threads game canon!

Plots/Plans: canonically, Strange cycled through like twelve different jobs before settling on magician. He is 100% going to do that here. Tall, lanky, and loud has absolutely shown up (and been terrible at) your character's job and I am absolutely up for threading that. Aside from that, road trips!! Exploring incidents!! What the fuck is a car!!! Let this English bean pole who isn't subtle at all with his magic try and convince you to do something dumb.

Limits: nothing comes to mind! Strange is a pain in the ass so I'm expecting some negative cr~

About: Nadine is a former elementary school teacher from New Hampshire who had a very weird childhood that led to even weirder adulthood. Orphaned as a baby, she ended up in the foster system - through a catholic run children's home - at the age of twelve. And then a powerful evil force contacted her through a Ouija board and promised her she would be his queen. And from then on she was visited in dreams and essentially raised for that purpose. He was all she had for most of her life. It screwed her up a lot! Then just a year ago her world ended, mostly wiped out by a plague. The survivors struggled to put things back together while two forces -one for good, one the thing Nadine was destined to marry - essentially using them to wage the end of times battle between Heaven and Hell.

So Nadine has some end of world trauma, too. She is very private, very slow to trust others or open up, and is used to staying on the fringe of society and keeping the world at arm's length. The big exception is kids. She is a natural mom, and it's pure instinct to look after and help young people.

While she's coming in from a point where she's accepted her fate, she has tried to get out of it. Just...unsuccessfully. So being here is looking like a pretty nice way out, actually....

Wanted CR: EVERYTHING! Bring her youths to mom at and adopt, bring her people she can connect with and start developing actual relationships with, bring her people who also had traumatic childhoods she could bond with, bring her all the CR!

Plots/Plans: So far she has just been trying to survive and save money. But I'm very into her exploring the world and checking out flux areas, and starting to get settled and make a life for herself. Also she will very likely try and set up a little tent school, because the lack of any schooling system at all makes her heart hurt. And she misses teaching.

Limits: Just no negative CR that comes out of nowhere, please! I'm down for friction, but when it makes sense.

About: Arthur is a mildly neurotic English everyman from a bizarre English dystopia. In his world, history diverged back in the 1930s. WWII was much different, and was a land grab war primarily between Germany and England. Arthur was a child during WWII, where a lot of really awful things happened in his community - a collection of villages spread across a handful of little islands in the channel - that resulted in them isolating themselves. And outlawing bad feelings. And making it law that everyone takes a pill that makes them happy and causes them to repress bad memories. This goes about as well as you'd expect.

Arthur woke up to reality and went through a traumatic adventure to escape, only he ended up here. Which is probably for the best. He is carrying an entire luggage car's worth of baggage. He's grown up in and existed in a society where he spent over a decade on a pill that screwed up his head, abiding by arbitrary and bizarre rules, and fearing death from stepping out of line. That is the world he knew, and what is still the normal for him. He can be eerily cheerful and polite.

He is also riddled with all kinds of guilt, self hatred, and existential dread! He wrestles with a pronounced selfish streak he's well aware of and is ashamed of, but has difficulty overcoming. But he's also terribly helpful, he tends to like helping people if it's 1) not very out of his way or 2) it would be helpful for him in turn. And often ends up doing it even if those two things aren't true, though he'll complain about it a lot.

He has no idea how to connect with other people on more than a surface level, but he's trying to get over that. He knows how screwed up he is, how screwed up the society he came from is. He's unlearned so much in regards to emotional and social development and he's got a lot of catching up to do. He is, however, pretty observant. He was a journalist for years, and a very good one according to his boss. He likes to know things and often can't fight his own curiosity.

He loves books and music, and has a degree in mechanical engineering and is surprisingly athletic. He was quite the lawn darts champion back in the day! He is not a very good driver. He is arguably a good poet - he won an award once.

Wanted CR: All of the things! Arthur is suddenly outside of a very homogenous, very conformist society. He does not know how to be friends with people, friendships in his society are very shallow things. I am up for basically anything. This man just needs to interact with people.

Plots/Plans: Arthur is finally putting his degree to use! While cars were defunct since he was a kid, he has a vague knowledge of how they work and he is good at learning things. He's gotten himself a book on car maintenance and he is learning all about how to maintain and repair vehicles. He's mostly just trying to get his feet under him and figure out how to exist in this very strange new place with all kinds of rules (or lack thereof) he doesn't know or understand yet. He's also going to be trying to stick close to Sally Boyle, his childhood best friend and lifelong crush he's been estranged from for fifteen years.

Limits: Just not into negative CR that comes out of nowhere. I am very down for negative CR that develops naturally, though!
