Welcome!
It's time to introduce yourselves! Use the form below to get out there and start plotting. New and old players alike are encouraged to post to the Intro & CR.
A mingle log will be posted on June 8.

- Characters can arrive in-game on any date throughout the month of the TDM. This means characters do not have to, and typically will not, arrive all at once. Arrivals will be scattered and more difficult to predict. Use this to stagger CR, give characters a couple weeks without seeing each other, or whatever you feel makes it interesting!
- Since base AC is low, players need to make AC for their first month. TDM threads continued into the month are perfectly acceptable as long as the comments submitted take place in the current month.
- We've made some updates to the Invites page to reflect the game's current player cap status and added a player cap count to the Taken page. Our player cap is formally 70 players. The FAQ has also been updated to reflect these changes.
- A reminder that the 2 characters per round allocation was for the first round only. Moving forward, all players, current and new, can only apply for one character per app round. (You may still have a total of 2 characters.)

well
marc's whole deal is complex — jewish man serving an egpytian god. he's very aware of the optics, and he has a lot of feelings (that he takes a while to admit to) about it, but all of it stems from a host of daddy issues that he's even less likely to admit to, and so he'll mostly be KHONSHU'S AN ASSHOLE about it all. but! khonshu very much has played the KEEPING SECRETS card, but it's specifically the 'keeping secrets from marc and only marc' card, simply because keeping things from marc is fucking hilarious if you're an ancient, skeletal bird.
marc doesn't really know how to be nice :( but he can be weird, intense, and earnest which is, like, basically the same thing???

FOR EVERYTHING ELSE i'm genuinely down to see how this comes up over time 👀👀 she's never been a biased third party in her life and chances are she'll end up being in marc's corner when we dig past khonshu's an asshole (honestly she'll be in his corner from the get-go, helping out randos in a motel was the best first impression)... but i think how it unravels / how they talk about it will also inform their potential commiseration down the road. higher powers, man
i think she thinks that's the same thing bc that's basically her entire ride-or-die friend group and she thinks they're all the best people in the world so. you're in good company bud

OH MAN BUT IT COULD BE GOOD. despite marc's very, very complex feelings about god (Not Khonshu) and also khonshu, he ... kind of enjoys?? conversations about higher powers, even if it's purely from the perspective of debate. he's very aware that his perspective on/in relation to the former directly led to him to khonshu and becoming who he is now, so it's one of those relatively juicy little nuggets that can either serve as the garnish on cr, or as like.... a kind of through-line.
he's generally very adamant about people being realistic about the type of person he is, so he'd be very blunt about what being in his corner means if she made that evident. (but on the flipside, he'd be very, very sympathetic towards her if it seemed like she was in a remotely similar position.)

ANYWAY i'm fascinated because her sense of 'her people' is strong to the point that she doesn't always clock it as bias? it won't happen over night, but she really does have the jrpg protag loyalty of believing in your people no matter what(tm) that he absolutely should call her out on, it'd be great
BUT BACK TO HIGHER POWERS it's a line of like, expectations she was born into vs even if she did have a choice i doubt anything would have changed. duty bound to the extreme, so... yknow, formative with an asterisk (but probably still formative). so i think she'll be slow to clock some of the parallels but the parallels are very much there?? i love the idea of starting to compare notes and then slowly getting more and more philosophical over time.
featuring like, a lot of shady guys getting beat up & also him getting regular texts to see how he's doing & also the horrors in general. weird unhinged shit, why not.

it's a weird thing in the sense that marc is very NO I'M A BAD PERSON WHO'S DONE BAD THINGS BUT I'M TRYING TO BE BETTER with a side of needing other people's perspectives because he doesn't trust his own ability to make good decisions, with another side of almost expecting his friends to have that belief in him and simultaneously expecting said friends to give up on him when he fucks it up whilst ... doing questionable things to fuck it up but getting frustrated when he's not trusted.
which is a long way of saying marc will probably be good for really testing that jrpg loyalty if/once it's been built up wheezes a frequent mainstay of the comics is that marc is someone that it's easy to get caught up in the orbit of, but he's also deeply, deeply frustrating to deal with.
OH MAN THAT'S actually really interesting and also really different to marc's experiences. his whole thing was being really disillusioned by his faith/the way that his father approached ... everything, so he just threw himself into being the exact opposite of his father, had a near-death experience (or actual death, that's never made clear) in the desert for his efforts, and then was all I'M A SPECTRE OF THE MOON, [THE MOON'S] KNIGHT AND I HAVE WORK TO DO and rolled off into the desert to get revenge on the guy that almost killed him.
he now regrets everything and wishes he'd never agreed (""agreed"") to becoming moon knight and would have preferred to have just died. so. that's. where he's at. SLOW BUILD UP TO THAT CONVERSATION for sure, although if it's wrapped with the concept of 'duty', that's basically marc's favourite word and concept.
he'd be so touched by regular texts, just ignore the weird hours he replies to them, lucina. does he sleep? maybe. at night? absolutely not. he'd be less good his own texts apropos nothing, but he is definitely the kind of guy to just turn up out of the blue like 'so how's it going, I brought coffee' in truly the most awkward way

LMFAOO god so it's kind of a conflip when she Gets Frustrated vs when she finds a weird justification to be like 'this is fine, actually'... it really depends on how deep into jrpg loyalty we've gotten and how much what marc is doing makes sense?? to her. but she's also kind of weird and she spent most of her life with a very specific set of goals she refused to stray from SO WE'LL SEE WHERE THIS GOES, BASICALLY, there's no way it'll be boring if nothing else. i'm so happy
OH .... DAD ISSUES i remember you mentioning dad issues and wanting to ask because she also! has dad issues! and of course they manifested very differently like everything else between these two rn!!! she wanted to be JUST LIKE HER DAD because he's good and perfect and has never done anything wrong ever (except dying when she was young ig, but that wasn't his fault). her biases run very deep and it all starts with him — so she ends up following in his footsteps a lot. it's not all bad bc chrom is a good man he's just kind of stupid, but again it's just yet another thing for them to go ??? at each other over. marc what do you mean you'd prefer to have just died can we talk about this,

OH MAN marc's daddy issues. IN A NUTSHELL, he's the son of a rabbi who in the original timeline was a refugee from czechoslovakia as of WWII (but sliding timeline, so let's ignore the dates), but his approach to life in the US and anti-semitism was basically 'be the better man' and 'pacifism is better than violence', whilst marc was a very angry, violent teen/young adult, and he pretty much viewed his dad as THE WORST. they were estranged when marc enrolled in the marines as of his eighteenth birthday because, yk, violence. they then didn't speak for 18 years until elias (daddy spector) was on his death bed, and marc being marc just went NOPE, ignored elias's attempts to reach out, and then had a breakdown as of elias's funeral.
he's now all MY FATHER WAS THE KINDEST, GENTLEST MAN I'VE EVER KNOWN, I'M AWFUL, NOTHING LIKE HIM (basically). he has a lot of issues around never having made elias proud, and they're all very mixed up in his relationship with khonshu who... presently only ... answers to 'father'... and refers to marc as '[his] son'. (+ add in marc's feelings about having renounced God for ... khonshu)
SO ONCE AGAIN IT SEEMS LIKE THEY'LL BE ON VERY DIFFERENT SIDES OF THE FENCE i'm so excited for all the ways this can develop

buddy..... look if nothing else they both idolize their dead dads!! (technically chrom's alive now? there's timetravel in fe:a too, surprise. but it's not Her Dad from Her Timeline so she immediately leaves after she's certain he's safe, as you do) finally one shared thread / view that is healthy and not at all messy, nope. stick that beside their penchant for beating dudes up and this is fine. this is fine!
