It's time to introduce yourselves! Use the form below to get out there and start plotting. New and old players alike are encouraged to post to the Intro & CR.

A Mingle Log has been posted this month instead of the usual Bulletin.

News & Updates

• A small note that there's currently a massive cube hanging out in the Fringes. New and old players alike are free to interact with the cube.
• The Sanctum, which was previously closed, is now open. There are no more gates and barriers, and signs of a riot that broke out during a week-long blackout remains.

Notes

• Characters can arrive in-game on any date between late March to early April. This means characters do not have to, and typically will not, arrive all at once. Arrivals will be scattered and more difficult to predict. Use this to stagger CR, give characters a couple weeks without seeing each other, or whatever you feel makes it interesting!
• Since base AC is low, players need to make AC for their first month. TDM threads continued into the month are perfectly acceptable as long as the comments submitted take place in the current month.

About: Professor Charles Xavier is the man, the myth, the legend, the leader of the X-Men. He is a powerful telepath with too much empathy for his own good. He loves people way too much, and that's why he has a lot of unreasonable hope and optimism despite all reason not to. He recently went through a very hard period of years where he was miserable and depressed. Being here and meeting his future X-Men has done wonders for him in lightening up and finding purpose again, mostly getting his shit together. He is a very kind and patient man. He is in a wheelchair and he has hair, stop telling him he's bald.

Wanted CR: Charles is super interested in people with supernatural abilities of all kinds. He ran a school for mutants/people with powers back home, and he cares a lot about making a safe space for people like them. He's also a giant nerd who likes other nerds.

Plots/Plans: Charles opened his supernatural/superpowered club from the X-Men's community center, and he'll have more events encouraging more people to come hang out with other superpowered club members. He'll eventually be setting up a space for people to practice their powers and learn if they want to. He recently got obsessed with the Sanctum opening up the university/library/knowledge so he'll be there. He regularly works at the local hospital.

About:

david is the telepathic, telekinetic, reality-warping son of charles xavier (Not This One Tho) who, due to a whole host of reasons, is essentially the world's most unreliable narrator. he has very few qualms about using his powers without asking¹, and while he's not completely devoid of empathy, he's incredibly good at finding ways to justify his terrible decisions to himself so that he doesn't have to feel bad about the really awful things he's done.

as of his canon point, recent attempts to hold him accountable for being Super Fucking Shitty, like, really hurt his feelings so he decided to fuck off and form a fake-ass hippie cult where he uses his psychic powers to one, make people love him unconditionally, and two, make drugs. (these two things are related.)

also he had a psychic hitchhiker for like thirty years and that Did Not Help with david's general sense of... anything.

good AND bad influences, and also people to be a ... some kind of influence on

people with powers like his and/or people who've experienced being judged, othered etc — david didn't know he was a mutant until he was thirty-ish, and a lot of his sense of self (such as it is) is built around how the latter plays into the former (specifically david's mental health - he's schizophrenic, but unfort for david and everyone else, he no longer accepts that's true because ... it was totes his mutant abilities and also that asshole who lived inside his head for 33 years.)

someone to make him get a phone?? he's a telepath, he doesn't see the point (yet), and thx to legion's exceptionally ambiguous timeframing, david could be coming to the diadem from any time between the 1970s and the 2000s. ignore the fact that i've linked an inbox up there, it's for telepathic reasons and/or for After He's Got A Phone

but tbh david doesn't have much in the way of canon relationships but the ones he does have tend to be horribly dysfunctional and co-dependent, so.

Plots/Plans:

he's going to be very uninterested in getting a job, which mostly means there's also a very real chance he'll get involved with the drug trade in Some Manner, but that's something i'm going to need to hash out details w/ the mods about bc david's ego is large and he's not going to give a shit about glaze.

cult/cult-adjacent stuff? (soz ""ENLIGHTENMENT HOUSE"") partially linked to the drug thing, partially linked to david's desperate need to feel loved, and also probs partially linked to his casual suspicion of the x-men. (he's also going to be paranoid about the people that ""hate"" him in canon turning up, so.)

his favourite mode of movement/transport is teleportation. this will backfire on him at some point. please give him a lift back from ... somewhere bc he will inevitably be found in a diffusion zone just sullenly walking along back to wherever the fuck he left his weird, rear-engined skoda.

idk fam david uses his powers pretty fucking willy-nilly in canon so between the high failure rate and the related nerf of EXCESSIVE USE WILL RESULT IN THE TEMPORARY INABILITY TO FILTER AND CONTROL PSYCHIC NOISE, he will occasionally need people to take pity on him. (being unable to control his telepathy/associated abilities means he will probably cry and also probably pass out.) he may or may not learn to be more judicious with his use of them with time.

Limits:

ooc: nothing of note, i'll communicate if anything's feeling a bit dodge.
ic: david gets really bothered by perceived/actual rejection and abandonment and the implication/overt suggestion he's unwell. anything that threatens his specific perception of reality can and will get aggressively disregarded. he has exceptionally poor coping mechanisms, which i am v. excited to play with, but fully understand that not everyone will want to interact with david's specific brand of Not Okay.

About: Alphinaud is an idealistic and optimistic nerd, with a particular interest in politics and diplomacy. He and his sister are the youngest students to study at their alma mater, the Studium! Of which Alphinaud wrote his thesis on solving world peace. He is surprisingly level-headed for a teenager, and will generally err on talking out any problem before resulting to violence. (But he will partake in violence if it comes to it.) He's horrifically bad with money, is oftentimes prone to running his mouth by complete accident, is actually one of the kindest people you'll ever meet, and speaks hella Fancy (tm).

During his adventures with the Warrior of Light (shoutout to Aria!), Alphinaud has a lot of opportunities to grow up, losing the airs of superiority from his super privileged background, but never losing his sense of hope and optimism for a better world.

He is the son of a high-ranking diplomat, and grandson of a legendary heroic figure who sacrificed himself to save the world; it's a very heavy legacy to bear upon his shoulders. Of course, he doesn't have to bear it alone — on the off chance that you've run into a small-ish (we're talking 4'-7") white-haired elf, you might have encountered his identical twin sister, Alisaie instead. They super love getting mistaken for the other, so try not to do it. (Please do it.)

Plots/Plans: Alphinaud and the other Scions have recently moved to the Sanctum where it feels a little like they're starting the next chapter (or expansion) in a new place! Previously, Alphinaud has been working pretty permanently as an intern and medic at Saint Margery's hospital, but he will be looking into new job opportunities in his new place of residence.

He's been keeping copious amounts of notes, is slowly learning how to appreciate food, and is picking up plant-nursing as a hobby. You know, your typical character development arc.

Limits: Nothing really! I don't really jive with negative CR for the sake of negative CR's sake but that's about it!

A superficially charming man with secrets from post-apocalyptic dark fantasy Belle Époque France (yes, really). Cursed with unwanted immortality, Verso has spent the last 67 years living on the monster-infested Continent across the sea from the city of Lumière, assisting annual Expeditions to defeat an entity known as the Paintress in the hopes of curing his immortality (among other things).

as of TDM-time he's prrrrobably moving from his shitty motel in the Blocks to one of the abandoned apartments in the Sanctum to avoid paying rent

he's a big train fan and regularly frequents the Rail (this is why he can't pay rent)

his moped was damaged in the shockwave, and he's currently looking for someone who has enough mechanical knowhow to (try to) fix it! he'd be most interested in an exchange of favors bc of the aforementioned Poor but he can scrounge up some joolies if necessary.

for the mingle: I am planning on tagging out and/or doing closed starters (for literally anyone who would like one), but no open TL. he won't be in much of a partying/clubbing mood lmao but he'll at least briefly wander around the street fair and might do a little sad drinking in the corner of the club (why is this always what he's doing idk)!

Limits: not really a limit so to speak, but fair warning, I prefer to drop/handwave/wrap up threads by the 2 month mark for the sake of timelines and momentum! I'm happy to prioritize stuff to get it to a wrappable place, handwave if that's not possible, whatever. Wanted CR: Book people now that the Lyceum Institute is open and available for use and work; always more folks for exploring. He's especially curious about helping out with the Lyceum's damaged portion, as he'd like to get a better look at the contents that need to be moved back in.

Plots/Plans: Al has been fairly go-with-the-flow since he got here, so the fact that the Lyceum has his active attention is actually a big change. He's likely going to see where poking at that leads him, as the promise of something he's familiar with and generally enjoys is something he'd like to at least explore. I'd personally like to put that in tension with the being watched element that comes with the Sanctum itself.

And he can be pretty temperamental. He can't help himself when it comes to "fixing" things, and with the help of Crazy Diamond, he's able to do exactly that. Oh just, don't make fun of his hair, unless you're looking for some facial reconstruction....

In the Diadem, Josuke has truly and honestly only been causing trouble, and will continue to do that I'm sure. He's currently roomed with Giorno, works odd jobs to get by, and will head out to diffusion zones on his own for scratch.

Wanted CR:

Plots/Plans:

🐜 Clarence has hijacked Josuke's brain. 「★」 At least for a little while. Josuke will be mostly himself, with a peanut gallery and maybe some ventrilloquey. I plan to top level on the mingle with this – if you don't wanna deal with Clarence or Josuke going batty, plot with me!
🐜 That said, I'm looking for help removing Clarence! Josuke will be acting up during the mingle, so i think it's possible for him to pick up a brand-new CR to make this happen.

Clarence, obviously, can't be allowed to die during this process! That would be mean to nigh and also Josuke wouldn't allow it. Suggestions I have are....
🐜 Medical removal & transfer. clarence is occupying josuke's spinal cord! Giorno has the ability to regrow parts for people. We can handwave this just to say 'clarence is in a jar now.'
🐜 Physical Trauma. Head trauma, however I have "hit by a car" as fallback.
🐜 A new host: Organ harvesters. We discussed setting it up to move Clarence into one of the organ harvesters he works for, if a deliberate target is needed in any case, and Josuke knows how to summon them to be targeted!
🐜 Something else? If YOU have an idea that your character might be specially suited for to help remove Clarence, i am open to suggestions. This silly nightmare is for anyone to try to solve, and I do love a bizarre adventure.

💎 Crazy Diamond is visible for others under certain circumstances. While it's come up here and there, Josuke hasn't actually realized others can see his Stand. Happy to play around with this more.
🪮 Josuke is going through a growth spurt! He started at 5'11 in November, he'll be 6'0 in May, and 6'1 in November. This is really just flavour for anyone who has known him a while.
🪮 If we had anything planned/discussed from February or on plurk, I'd love to follow up on those the most!

Limits: Just the limit of "he's 16." Also, I'm trying to go easier in April because I went insane last month. Outside the Clarence shenanigans, I'd prefer plotted threads.

About: obligatory blue haired lord (princess, this time!) in every Fire Emblem game. she's a JRPG protag through and through, full of hope with every intent to save the world. she's kind, friendly, serious, dutiful to a fault. every part the ye olde, honorable knight / soldier who's seen some shit and managed to keep (a delusional sense of) hope anyway. will commit as much murder as it takes for her causes. horrific daddy's girl. officially named the cast's "least likely to get a joke". she has very little standards in general and her tastes are bad, so all this to say that for all the ways she looks put together she's actually kind of a loser.

Wanted CR: regular check-ins and the occasional jerky delivery are still standing offers for her usual cr! if we've threaded even once, she's 100% asked for their number and is texting them semi regularly. i'm not strong enough to be her levels of social, so i tend to handwave this — but if you ever do want a thread i am more than happy to do so. THAT SAID:

→ she's affable & friendly enough to befriend a lot of standoff-ish types — she led an army! so she's so good at building camaraderie and looking out for people. please become her friend.

Plots/Plans: it's her birthday this month! it's actually on 4/20 because that's fire emblem's anniversary, but hannah promised me wade will gift her a weed plant and say it's japanese maple. happy birthday, lucina.

anyway. last month's riots were kind of a repeat of home (negative), and there's a part of her that's grappling with That ... so between that + the kidnapping the month prior ( she's Fine ), she'll be quieter this month! i don't plan to top level with her, but i will be tagging around. she's moved ( because i burned her motel room down ) to eden heights!

About: John is half the fractured soul of the Great Old One, the King in Yellow. Discovering a portal intended to bring another cosmic entity into the world, The King in Yellow acted on opportunity and tried to slip through himself. However, the portal was closed before he could fully enter the human world, leaving him severed in two, with half his soul bound to a book and cast into the Dark World. John is the half that was bound to the book, and through canon events, has slowly learnt to become his own, entirely separate entity.

John can be manipulative, possessive, and quick to anger, but also believes firmly in the possibility of redemption. He can be empathetic, even gentle, and is trying hard to learn to be more 'human' than eldritch monster. He wants to be a good person, although he's very much still learning and it is not an easy task to shake of eons worth of impulses.

Wanted CR: Generic as it is, I'm open to any and all CR for John. While he's inclined to try and be friendly, I'm very down for negative CR, people who react badly to meeting an eldritch tentacle creature, frenemies, all of it.

Plots/Plans: John recently fucked up during the blackout and rioting at the Sanctum, where he lost his temper and drove a bunch of people insane before he was stopped by Emet-Selch and Jayce. He's currently wearing power limiting cuffs to prevent himself from flipping out again in the near future, and is feeling on edge re: his own shitty behaviour in the Sanctum. I'd therefore be very down this month for:

★ People to push him into interacting more widely with others again, seeing as he's been isolating a bit for the sake of other people's safety ever since his fuck up.

They've been able to grow more of it in fish tanks and are working with St. Margery's on custom prosthetics.

▽ Courtesy of AC Bonus, Jayce can zap people with his fingers now. He's trying to figure out how to charge batteries with this (without destroying them).

▽ All joking aside my vague arc for Jayce in Diadem revolves around coming to terms with his survival, the trauma he experienced when he was stuck in the other timeline, and a whole boatload of guilt, combined with the fact that his experiences changed him in a fairly short period of time. He has loved ones who must think he died in the final battle, and even if he finds a way home, he and Viktor couldn't go back. He has an arcane infection in his leg that may or may not be progressing. He's mostly glad to be alive, and to be with his partner here, but there's a lingering fear that one day the rug's going to pulled out from under him (and that he never left that ravine).

Sunday is a former antagonist who was the leader of a powerful main branch of The Family, a theoretically unified organization on Penacony, a planet where others go to "dream" within the Dreamscape created there - if you can afford the fees to get in let alone stay in. He had a shared dream with his beloved sister to create a better world where others wouldn't suffer. That might've been a nice plan if it'd stayed there, but things went too far as they do in RPGs when the guy who desperately wants this is willing to sacrifice everything.

At a festival meant to honor the Harmony (An Aeon or a god figure in canon), Sunday temporarily gained powers granted specifically by the Aeon and used those to transform with the intent of making it so the star system stayed asleep within the dream. As for who would've controlled the dream: Sunday, since he intended to become a new Aeon and very nearly succeeded in doing so which would've been terrible for the cosmos. This resulted in a boss battle where he was hit multiple times with a space train until he was defeated.

His current canon point is after he was released from jail for his many crimes and about to warp jump to Amphoreus. His sister made a deal where (he thinks) he'll have to eventually pay some unknown debt for this, but until then he was supposed to travel on that same space train before ending up in The Diadem instead.

About: Logan is a mutant who's sometimes (better) known as the Wolverine. His metal claws are his most identifiable feature. His brain is Swiss cheese thanks to the government and various incidents, so he's got a significant case of amnesia and trauma out the ass. This Logan comes from the year 2023 in Days of Future Past, meaning his world is currently besieged by machines called Sentinels, designed to hunt down and exterminate all of mutant kind.

He's gruff, a wildcard, and has a temper as short as his comic counterpart, but he tries his best to not fuck things up. Once he's on your side, you'll have a meat shield at your disposal. Favours cigars and whiskey. He has his emotional support father figure here (Charles) and a few of his team + his daughter, so he's not as rocky as he would be otherwise.

Wanted CR:

— If you have a ye olde, he can help out with mechanical aspects and other handyman repairs.

— Friends!! Logan isn't the cuddliest, but he can and does make conversation if he's in the mood. As much as Logan walls himself off out of habit and a desire to protect himself, he's remained a part of a team for a reason, and he's not as solitary as he pretends to be. He's a little bit of a girl dad, despite himself, and gravitates toward Youths who remind him of the school's former students.

— Other Dads! Logan is slowly embracing (?) dad-hood, and while it continues to be a work in progress, he does want to do right by his daughter whom he did not know existed until [checks watch] 8 months ago. He's pretty good mentoring students, but his own kid carries a unique responsibility he's simply never confronted before. I think it would do him good to befriend other dads.

— Kids/outcasts. Logan is pretty quick to mentor misfits, especially those systemically hunted by society. But just in general, he's got a soft spot for Youths, especially at his specific canon point. He was pretty firmly embedded with the school before the world ended.

— Any time travellers or people who know about time travelling, or anything related to quantum physics.

— Others from apocalyptic/post-apocalyptic/dystopian universes. On that note, other outcasts will strike a chord with him easily, particularly if the stigmatization is due to one's abilities/species/something they were simply born with.

— Anyone who also thinks the government sucks at protecting the people who need it most.

— Situations. Logan is frequently either in a situation or he is the situation. I love chaos.

Plots/Plans:

— Gardening! Logan is fixing up the patio of the x-men community centre, and he's going to be starting a small garden to deal with his Feelings about Storm being gone. If you want to stop by or bring him plants, I would love that.

— Due to a recent breakup, Logan is back to drifting around. He'll probably be spending more time at bars, and will likely be crashing at the community centre, temporary motels, or just on a public bench. You can stumble over him any time.

— Logan works a lot because he doesn't have much going on. He's mostly a man trying to fit back into a world at (relative) peace after being yanked abruptly from life as a soldier. I'm always open for stuck-on-shift together scenarios or finding him having a smoke out back someplace. He also likes to read and will poke around places that have books to kill time when he's not working.

— He's been exploring/scavenging the diffusion zones. If you want to run into him out there, get in trouble in his vicinity, or cause trouble in his vicinity, I'm open to it!

— His healing factor is fairly robust and I'm happy to use this for shenanigans or anything you want. He's been disembowelled, shot, and nuked, and he survives it all. He makes for a pretty good bodyguard as a result. I'm also fully down for situations where he's the one who needs a bit of saving! He's sturdy, but not invincible, and situations follow him aplenty.

Limits: Nothing I can think of for now! I just ask if CR starts mega antagonistic/aggressive out of the gate that you discuss it with me before you dive in with that because Logan can, and has, stabbed people for less (although personally, I love some good negative CR). Mildly negative CR is fine, though! Logan can be an asshole; he's liable to attract other assholes.

Plots/Plans: having survived the calendar date of the gommage (big problematic date, back home) and suffered various situations during the event (including a time compression crisis), sciel has more recently bounced back with her 33rd birthday party and is going to be over the MOON with the addition of some more of her castmates. i don't have solid plans this month beyond a vague sense that things are looking pretty good for her, so i'm more than open to getting into trouble, meeting people, or whatever else. honestly, her biggest problem at the moment is working on paying off her debt, given that she spent a little too much for the party and, historically, hasn't been the best with her joolies... she will definitely be around the mingle, possibly on a tl later this week!

Eddie is an anxiety-ridden, doomed-by-the-narrative metalhead from a small town in 1980s Indiana who had A Really Bad Spring Break. Long and short of it is that he ended up being wanted for a murder he didn’t commit and ran away so hard that he was eventually dragged along on an adventure into an alternate dimension (which he only just learned about; that’s what he gets for not being present for the first three seasons).

He’s repeated his senior year twice and doesn’t like conformity. He does however, like D&D, Metallica, and he plays the guitar. He’s incredibly dramatic, theatrical, intense and nervous, but ultimately a kind-hearted dude with a soft sport for people who “don’t belong”. He apparently looks scary (don’t ask me how okay), but he’s got a heart of gold and really is a good guy.

He recently got a Big Fat Canon Update and now he’s dead back home and horrifically scarred here. Very fun stuff.

About: Erik is a former mutant terrorist and fugitive, currently in his (mostly) pacifist era. More like 'leave me alone and I'll leave you alone' era. Still, don't piss him off. He's got a lot of past trauma and one too many problems with authority, so he's always one wrong trigger away from snapping. He's doing pretty well so far at least.

Wanted CR: Found family and mentorship CR are my favorites for Erik. Younger people who struggle with their abilities or a sense of purpose, folks who need guidance and support, or who are looking for something like a community that's safe for them. Erik is much likelier to gravitate towards other powered people (whoops) but I'd love for him to get some more CR with baseline humans. He also works at the scrapyard as a mechanic so meeting people through there is always a good option.
Always looking for anyone who wants to get into trouble together, exploring diffusion zones, traveling to Kolliery, etc. maybe getting into fights? Or our characters can fight??? JUST FIGHTS OKAY.
I'm also fine with tense CR but let's talk about how that might go down!

Plots/Plans: He's moving in with Charles to Eden Heights soon-ish. He'll also be exploring the Sanctum more thoroughly now that he has the time, and he'll be making use of his new library card and reading as many books there as he possibly can. I don't have big plans otherwise. I would love to do something with the cube again, so if anyone has stupid ideas, Erik is very prone to stupid ideas.

What if Clifford the Big Red Dog came in the form of a really friendly and large 7ft+ tiefling barbarian woman? That's Karlach. Aside from her recent adventures in Faerûn (aka the main plot of BG3), she's been stuck as a conscripted soldier in the hells for about 10 years. Now that she's free, she's extremely grateful for every day outside of that horrible war-torn wasteland. Extremely grateful.

There may have once been a time where she was considered the "Scourge of the Hells" and a blazing inferno cutting through countless monsters, but now she wants to live a different life. One where she can make friends and have a good time. She has so many years to make up for after all! She had lost everything when she was sold into service of an archdevil, including but especially the ability to touch others. Karlach had been experimented on and her heart had been replaced with an infernal engine, one that fuels her with infernal fire from within.

Up until very recently—and we're talking a matter of days prior to her arrival in Diadem—she had run too hot for anyone to tolerate being touched by her. Thankfully, she had come across someone during her travels who was able to improve on the design of her engine and cool her down enough to allow her to finally touch others without permanently disfiguring them.

Now this touch-starved adrenaline junkie has a big car and no world-ending level threats hanging over her head, so the party is just getting started for her!

About: Emotionally repressed scholar-type who treats even what she ate for breakfast that morning like a state secret. Jasnah is something of an apex predator in her own world — infamous, dangerous, and thoroughly recognizable as royalty. In Diadem, she’s adjusting to losing all her power and influence overnight and needing to do pesky things like sleep and eat food that she hasn’t been able to soulcast for impurities. I like to warn people that she can be very standoffish and aloof in a way that reads mean girl but that doesn’t always come from a place of meanness, internally. Although sometimes it definitely does. She’s used to getting away with it back home because of her reputation and authority.

Wanted CR:
— Penpal vibes. Someone who perhaps she has never met in person yet (or met only briefly) who will have lengthy yap sessions over text.

— Similar to above: find a sword? She’s decent with one, but doesn’t love the idea of carrying it around everywhere.
— Hit the gym. Without Stormlight to make her near-invincible, she figures she should put in the work to be physically prepared for another shitshow like the blackout.
— Some As-Yet-Unknown Project: whether it’s some sort of research project, trying to gain the attention of the storm chasers, something like a personal project, UNSURE. But it’s weird for her to be without a capital-p Project to work on, and as soon as she’s settled in the dorms I’d like to give her something meaty to work on.

Limits: I’m trying to be very careful and slow about what Jasnah reveals to anyone. Even if CR is relatively positive, please don’t take it too personally if she’s still sooo cagey. So, I suppose, my limit is on CR getting too close/too positive too fast. If it’s been 5+ threads and our characters still feel kinda like strangers? That’s okay with me! If it’s not okay with you, reach out and we can talk about leveraging game events or something to provide meaningful connection where Jasnah would prefer to dodge it.
