Welcome to our first EMP! If you're unsure of who to app, are deciding between characters, or simply want to see who's bringing who, you can participate below. It is not a reserve. Reserves will open May 28.

- If considering multiple characters, post each one individually under a top-level comment with your PLAYER NAME in the subject line.
- The TDM is scheduled for May 15. It will be open to all. No invite required to participate.
- Invite requests will open with the TDM on May 15. You're welcome to submit earlier but we will not be answering them until after the TDM opens.
- The TDM will have a section where you can express interest in receiving an invite if you don't know anyone in the game. Requests are public but replies to requests will be private.
- For the first round only, all invited players can app up to 2 characters provided they are not from the same franchise or canon. Playing from the same franchise/canon is allowed, but you can't apply for both in a single round. See the FAQ for more.
In the future, we'll also have a separate ATP form. Since the game is brand new, however, you'll find a small ATP section in the EMP form instead where you can ask for castmates alongside your EMP post!

Name: Fern (Whitetooth)
Canon: Dungeons & Dragons Original Character (from a Curse of Strahd campaign)
About: As a Dungeons & Dragons OC, Fern is from the world of Faerun, though she has spent the last long while in a different world entirely, that of Barovia, which is a land that's been shrouded in fog and bad vibes and undead thanks to the rulership of Strahd von Zarovich, a no-good, very-bad vampire. She got thrown into this situation unexpectedly with a ragtag group of others she'd only just met, fun times!
She is a shifter, which is a not!werewolf (she always has some animal traits, but can transform into a more bestial form at will — mainly during dangerous battle situations, or if emotionally unstable). She's been shunned due to her shifter nature for much of her life, and while she's used to being a lone wolf (heh heh), she secretly craves being part of a "pack." She's found this through the others in her Strahd group, but now she gets to get isekai'd all over again. Fun times!
She's a rogue, so killing people who need killing, breaking into things, and sneaking around is her bread and butter. She's stoic and reserved and doesn't often suffer fools; it takes her time to trust people, but once she does, she's ride or die for them. She's a Ye Olde and is very used to undead horrors of various types at this point, but Diadem will definitely be a lot of culture shock for her all the same.
Plans/Ideas: This will be my first time putting an OC into the DWRP space, so I'm going to see how it goes! I'm both excited and nervous to hoist up my girl like Simba and show her to the world. But I'm not planning too extensively just yet. I know I want her to get a motorcycle and learn how to ride it one day, because she deserves that. She'll start off wary of most everyone because Barovia is a terrible place and she's been burned so many times, along with having literally lost her sense of hope to a hag (don't worry about it). But as I mentioned, she is someone who does actually crave a pack and belonging despite keeping people at arm's length at first, so I'm hoping to build some good CR and have her get up to all sorts of shenanigans! She's definitely used to Everything Happening So Much, so she'll figure things out. Probably.
Any characters you want to see in the game? N/A, she's an OC! And will hopefully have at least one other "canonmate" around, so that'll be fun.

tbh having any sort of wolf-theming (if it's something she can became aware of) will shoot him to the top of her list... she basically lost every other shifter she knew due to Sad Backstory, so she's felt pretty alone and isolated in that sense, even if she's found other people to trust. but still, that sense that no one you know is quite like you... it'd be nice to have a wolf buddy!!

— but more seriously, man a lot about her is similar to Amos in the way of stoicism/slow to trust, especially how ride and die he is once he's fully latched on to people. Your girl sounds so interesting, I'm excited to see what their vibes are!!

agreed that they sound kind of similar in their approach to the world, so it'd be fun to see how they interact. fern is a trained assassin, but for a group called the harpers that uses those abilities to take out people in power who are doing wrongs/who are corrupt, etc. so she's got no issue with killing people, but she also wants to protect innocents, etc! it's for the greater good and all that.

phainon | honkai star rail
Name: Phainon
Canon: Honkai: Star Rail
About: Phainon is from a world that is heavily Greco-Roman inspired, and the lore matches! It's basically a post-apocalyptic setting where a destructive force called the Black Tide is corrupting everything and there are a group of heroes who, based on a prophecy, are inheriting the divinity of the Titans in hopes of forging a new era of peace and saving the world. Except... there's a lot of hints that this is not going to go well, and taking on this role also means accepting some kind of curse or terrible fate.
Phainon is considered the backbone of this, as he's prophesized to be the hero that will witness the unveiling of the prophecy, but at the cost of losing everyone close to him. He has a lot of weight bearing down on his shoulders (and the Titan he's associated with is literally the Worldbearer, an Atlas-type situation), but he tries to act lighthearted and breezy and chill despite the fact that he is doubting himself and worrying about things At All Times. It's basically Greek tragedy all the way down. He's an accomplished swordsman and very much dedicated to his duty, even if he's also worried he can't live up to it. Basically, someone who seems cheery and a little silly on the surface, but he's bottling up So Much...
Plans/Ideas: He's a lot more tentative because I'm still waiting for a lot of the story to unfold, but I also think he's got enough canon now to be playable. The main trouble would be the fact that he's very much focused on in-canon events and so it might make it harder to integrate him into the setting as a result. I think that the story progressing might change this, though, so we'll see! For now I just want to shove him onto the TDM for funsies to see how he handles the setting and situation at first blush, and to see if I can get some fun CR going to inform whether or not I should app him in the future.
Any characters you want to see in the game? Any Chrysos Heirs, tbh! But HSR is a huge canon so it would be fun to throw him at members of the Astral Express crew as well, and anyone else really! Outside of HSR, it would also be fun to toss him at other characters from Greco-Roman inspired settings.

fern has an angel-type guy in her party (sra will be posting him up at some point) and she also fought and killed an evil celestial who turned into a snake so like... there will be some wariness, for sure LMFAO. but i want them to chat!!

ardbert | final fantasy xiv
Name: Ardbert Hylfyst
Canon: Final Fantasy XIV
About: So, here's another guy from a post-apocalyptic situation, coughs, are you noticing a pattern here...
Ardbert was someone who just wanted to adventure and help people, but he and his friends became known as a group of heroes and their efforts made their world take on so much Light that it became a Bad Thing, actually. I won't go too deep into it, but it meant that his world was at great risk and he had to undertake many sacrifices to try and save it. This included losing all of his friends, becoming a wandering shade himself for an entire century, etc. Eventually he encounters the Warrior of Light (the player character) and things go from there.
He is someone who wanted to do good, who did everything right, but had it blow up in his face. He's recently regained hope in the world and in humanity as a whole after having been embittered for far too long. He's a good boy but he's also very charred, aka my favorite type.
Plans/Ideas: Much like Phainon, Ardbert's a future possibility or consideration! I'm really torn between them right now, especially because they have somewhat similar roles and vibes... so it's just a matter of deciding. Anyway! He has not been corporeal for 100 years, so this would be a huge adjustment for him. Still, he's got that protag energy that allows him to adjust to just about anything, so I'd really love to just fling him at the setting and see what happens. He's someone I've played before but not for a super long stint, so it'd be fun to give him another chance.
Any characters you want to see in the game? I believe there is a potential Final Fantasy XIV cast forming?! I would say that the Warrior of Light is the most important consideration for Ardbert, but also it would require a lot of close plotting with the WoL's player because of their connection. I'd also love other Shadowbringers characters like G'raha, Emet-Selch, etc!
