[ Staying in a building with working electricity is a lot more special than some of these people might think, so it figures that it doesn't last. At first it's just a minor annoyance since he didn't plan on sleeping much, not really trusting his room to be as safe as it should be. Shadows can benefit him as much as it could put him in danger.
But tuning the radio and trying to get a feel for the different stations--listening for any signs--was his main to-do. So, it isn't long before he groans and checks the circuit breaker that's poorly hidden behind some old picture in the motel room. Nadda. Flipping the switches does nothing and looking out the window shows the whole block is out. Probably more than just the hotel.
Still...he can take a look, if to give him something to do. Without many tools on him, he figures he'll figure it out as he goes. Only as he opens the door he hears something rolling down the hallway.
The surprise and slight distrust is written all over his face as Joel's gaze flickers between the man and his robot. Or whatever the hell that's supposed to be.
He doesn't answer the question at first, his eyes finally settling on the "droid". ]
...No clue.
[ Why is it a cat? He stands halfway out his doorway, on guard. ]
In a place like this, probably in the main office or a power room on site.
