He wouldn't have thought anything about it if she'd opted to stand, not even for the fact that almost everyone here is taller than him, but because she's so obviously powerful it would only make sense to defer to her. It's likely he used to feel this way about the Elite Octarians in the army, though his missing memories means he can't be sure.
