He can get that, to a certain extent, but he sure was gonna be in a world of trouble pretty soon. Worse than just spinning out and puking his guts out on the side of the road. Given that, Amos still can't say he would have been compelled to stop and help for the sake of helping, at least not when this started. Not like some people.
