[ "How to bicycle". Joel scans the younger man up and down like he's looking for a clear indication of where this guy's disconnect is. Is he really this clueless? Obtuse? Or is this just all part of the bit? Given him the benefit of the doubt might be warranted, but Joel isn't that generous with strangers. (Or with pretty much anyone.) No matter how "innocent" they read. ]

These "bicycles" don't come with training wheels.

[ Which is exactly what this guy would need. And probably a helmet and knee pads. ]

Say stuff like that and people're gonna take that bet.

[ Despite himself, Joel walks over, if only to make a point that if he's really as inept as he's playing at, this is a bad idea. He doesn't ask for permission, instead swinging his leg over the bike to sit on the seat. He balances it easily, both feet planted on the ground.

Joel wisely turns the engine off. Then placing his hands on the handle bars, he pulls back on the right, turning it towards him. ]

Throttle.

[ Two fingers on the bar behind it. ]

Break.

[ Then leaning it slightly onto his left foot, he raises the right to place on a small pedal by the rear wheel. ]

Rear break.

[ He shifts, switching his right foot to the floor and his left to a pedal. ]

Shift.

[ Placing both feet back on the ground, he straightens the bike between his legs and pulls on the bar on the left handle. ]

Clutch. This is what turns your engine on and off.

[ The look he gives the younger man is pointed. ]

But you got no business being on this thing if you don't know how to ride a bike.
