( While she'd kicked into motion beside him automatically to keep up with the movement of his chair, the name he gives her makes her heels plant and her knees lock, stunned. Maybe she should've guessed. Maybe the chair should've been a give-away, except he'd been old when she knew him. Well past nintey, and nearly unrecognizable compared to the far younger man she's looking at now.

The smell is also a little different, but scents change over time. Age doesn't cling to him anymore, the pills he took for seizures aren't influencing his body chemistry, but now that she knows, she knows. Maybe a small part of her knew from the moment he entered the building.

She recovers quickly, but there's no retroactively hiding the part of her lips, the incredulity in her sharp stare, even though she managed to reign them in quickly. She's already given herself away, so she may as well just say it:

I know who you are.

( And suddenly, the reason he helped her makes perfect sense. He helped her because this is Charles Xavier. He is, still, even years later in her life, the kindest person she's ever met. The first man to be kind to her specifically, and the first person after Gabriela.

There was never a version of him in the Void. Not that she knows of. Too important, maybe, to every timeline that he's in. She never thought she'd see any version of him again.
