[All of a sudden, he's standing at the top of a very long drop on his first alien world. It isn't the height that flips his stomach.
There are a few long moments of no response. His breathing is shallow and shaky, and a few blinks later, he recognizes that he is not, in fact, on an alien--
Well, no, he has no idea, this might be an alien world after all. But he isn't there. He's in a random motel room in this wild other dimension full of such normal stuff along with weird stuff. And Natasha. Natasha, here. Natasha, alive?

He works his way over to the door, heart the loudest thing in his ears, and if he opens it and nobody's there, there's going to be a very poor reaction. The door cracks open. And there's no mistaking her. Not in a hundred universes, a thousand dimensions, a million lifetimes. The door is all but flung open, and he doesn't know what the next step is, because the paranoid thought of what if it's not her won't leave him be, but his mouth is dry and his eyes are wet. Hard for words to work their way through, his voice broken for it, but he pushes through.]
