love in vain, the panorama, chomp chomp it's vampire time

[ Jonathan Strange is absolutely getting mugged. Later, he'll realize that he shouldn't be surprised this is happening. Try as he may to blend in, he doesn't fit in here. He can barely drive his automobile, still doesn't know how precisely his phone works, all of this world confuses him in ways that he hates to admit but has to anyway. He stands out. And if you stand out, you're an easy target.

He doesn't want to hurt this man. A conversation he had years ago plays in the back of his mind. "Can a magician kill a man by magic?" "I suppose a magician might, but a gentleman never could." Well he certainly was no gentleman any more. As he feels the prick of the knife close to his skin, Strange reaches for the magic of this land—

and oh hey, wait, someone else is hauling the man off of him. Well, two should be easier to take this man down than one. And if his savior also intends on mugging him, it would be easier to continue to work the spell already cast instead of casting a new one.

As Louis pins the perpetrator against the wall, ready to take a good chomp out of the man's throat, something odd happens. The bricks against the man's legs seemingly crumble, turning into dust for a brief moment before reforming around his legs, as if the wall was built around the mugger and he was bricked up, Bridge of Arta style. His upper half is still free for the moment—hands can swipe, lips can curse and, importantly for Louis, neck can be chomped. But that mugger's not going anywhere any time soon.
