[ Charles understands all too well the hunger that might drive people, considering it is the same thing that led him to wait in line for these treasured pieces of food himself. He does not have as easy a time finding a way to riches here and he cannot be choosy. He can sympathize, which is why he gave them an out, but they may also just be being malicious too.

He has been trying to not use his powers since arriving, due to a mix of keeping it invisible and because it makes his mind throb when he does, but this is quickly becoming a situation where he might need to.
