The Great Usopp Who Is the Captain, Trust Me ([personal profile] lessnosey) wrote in [community profile] diademooc 2025-06-11 08:16 pm (UTC)

[Usopp leans in closer and more urgently toward the glass; it occurs to him very suddenly just how bad the situation is. Maybe the bump to his noggin helped give him a little clarity, huh? 'Cus he's realizing very quickly that their resident chef is gonna drown if he doesn't get a move on...!

His eyes scan the symbols — and for a moment he feels some sort of... strange pull, like he wants to keep staring at them. He shakes his thoughts loose and gives Sanji a nervous nod.]

Okay. Okay, buddy, no sweat! I got this! [Then, enunciating as much as he can:] Do! Not! Die!

[Now that he's said that, you're not allowed to croak, right? No more confident than he was five seconds ago, he starts booking it around the building. Something about the area feels him with unease that he figures is just his usual defaults... until he sees the inky darkness throb and shift near the small treeline and feels his stomach sink into his feet.]

... Wh... what the hell was that..?

['Focus. Focus, gotta get to the code box thingy.' But as his fingers slip and slide over the wet, elusive code panel cover, his thoughts fog over; his goggles feel like they're too heavy around his neck and he yanks them off, but the weight persists. What did he need to — ? Right, the code. The code... He's slow as molasses to press them, but he manages. Even as a presence, big and unexplainable, rises up slowly among the black-silhouetted treeline and pulses in time with Usopp's heartbeat.

He turns to look at it with his knees shivering from cold rain and fear—

And then the water around Sanji shoots out and into the sky while the inky darkness starts to spread. Usopp is frozen all the while with his back up against the wall, not even totally aware he'd released the doors for his crewmate.]
