( We all die one day; it earns a little smile from her in return, faint, amused, like Erik's just nudged at an inside joke he isn't truly aware of. Maybe later when he finds out more, when he understands who she is a little better, he'll understand why she finds it funny.
Without the slow onset of metal toxicity poisoning her from the inside out the way it had her father, it's hard to say if she can actually die. She's wondered about it a little, at times, as she's gotten older. Logan's longevity had been impressive, even with the adamantium killing him over nearly two centuries; would he have even aged as much as he did without that factor? Will she? Two hundred years, four hundred years, a thousand — none of that is truly immortality, and it's still hardly a blip in the grand scheme of the universe, but...
It's long enough to know she's going to have to watch everybody she loves die before her. Maybe watching Logan go was enough to rip the bandaid off early.
But probably not. )
It's funny... you said something similar back then. It was inspiring. Made some of us feel hope for the first time in a long time.
( Also did a hell of a job crushing that hope when Cassandra tore him apart just the same as she did everyone else who tried to stand against her, but she'll keep that part to herself. )
Anyway, I guess I owe you two favors now. ( She slips her hands into her pockets and nods her head at the tire; one favor for dying for the cause, one favor for changing her flat. ) I don't really know how to pay you back. I don't have any money, and I doubt you'd need any help in a fight, but I could give you my number. If you think of something, you can call me.
if you don't wanna keep this as canon for next round, feel free to drop it! i'm cool either way!
