Back in their world, he had no choice but to live in hiding, but here there's no such need, and he's also not inclined to leave Charles to fend for himself while he's here. That on top of the fact that he simply wants to be around him, but he's not going to name either of his motives aloud. So long as Charles doesn't ask him to leave, to Erik that is the same as telling him to stay.

He now follows Charles through the store, not really looking for anything for himself but fine with simply exploring the place.
