[ He can take a hint — an off-handed comment like his spurning the need to clarify his assumption, as if the question needed to be asked at all.

He doesn't want to assume, and he doesn't want to put others in harm's way (or carry the burden of having to keep tabs on them), but paired with her response and the flexing of fingers at her side (where he assumes she keeps her weapon), it's good enough for him.

He nods now.

It would be a lie to say Matt isn't itching for a fight. A little tussle as a treat, if you may.

With no further words needed, he moves forward, hugging the wall and advancing with surprising agility and swiftness for a guy who has purposely obscured his vision with a dark cloth completely covering his eyes.

The two guys are talking to each other now in hushed tones:

'You know that old broad's gonna pop her head out wondering what's going on. And once that door's propped open —'

'Easy money. I hear she and her husband's got a whole safe in there.'

The first guy nods at exactly the moment that a) a door across from them opens and b) an older gentleman, in fact, yelps in surprise, and c) Matt springs out from the darkness to intercept, offering the group even more of a shock to the system. And now the party can really begin. ]

Well, look at that, the gang's all here.

[ The second of the thugs shouts, quickly shifting to raise a fist and bring it down on Matt. ]
