[ Benny listens without interrupting, something soft settling in behind his eyes the longer Jack talks. There’s something about the kid - straightforward, honest in a way most folks aren't anymore. There's no shame, either. It's like Jack he knows exactly who he is, even if the road’s been rocky. He envies that. Man like Benny, he's been alive so long, seen so much shit he's pretty sure he's got some soul searching to do. ]

Complicated sounds about right. [ He smiles faintly. ] But kindness...that counts for somethin'.

[ He glances off, the way someone does when the past tugs at their collar, demanding attention that a guy just doesn't wanna give. ]

Free's a hell of a word, but I'm not runnin' or fightin' just to take a damn breath. So I guess maybe this is better.

[ He glances over, a brow lifted as Jack introduces himself. ]

Jack, huh? Strong name. Suits you. [ a beat. ] As far as hunting goes, well - let's just say I know how to track things down. Sometimes I kill 'em. Sometimes I let 'em go. Kinda like Dean, I guess.

[ He pauses again, glances down at the way his feet take him one step at a time, moving forward. Water is still squishing in his boots, but he's still kicking. Could be worse. ]
