[ when he glances at her right around the time that she's sure the text goes through, her smile turns a bit knowing. she might even shrug. no need to offer her number when she already knows how to place it in his phone. and she won't know that he looks at the message a couple of times. won't know if he does, or doesn't think about it. what she does know is that she will sleep better that night, not quite realizing that just knowing she has a contact will help.

still - logan works, and it's quiet, and karen's content to sit there and relax with her beer and the sounds of logan messing with his bike. it's the first real time since arriving she feels like she can have the quiet to enjoy, instead of sitting awake in her motel room, worried the silence is hiding something else.

took some graveyard shifts and Karen huffs a laugh. ]
Are they? I haven't noticed.

[ in fact, she realizes she hasn't even turned on the tv - some part of her thinking it wouldn't work, or maybe not even wanting to try.

there are a few more moments of comfortable silence before she ends up deciding it's worth asking, deciding that she doesn't know why she hasn't up until now. she watches logan work for a few more moments, thinks back on the diner, on his running in to save her from whatever it was that had been hiding in those walls. ]

Is that what you did back home? [ she's not quite figured out the concept that her home and his could be different, but she decides to ask anyway. ] Stacking crates, fixing bikes. [ karen pauses for a moment before she realizes how that question sounds. ] You just seem really... not freaked out about all of this. [ like she is. ]
