"That's so many people. I'm really sorry to hear that." Jack has a soft heart, he can genuinely be sad hearing about so much loss of life. It's the opposite of his biological family who is full of detached and cruel individuals, considering his grandfather just destroyed planets full of people for fun. The Nephilim in comparison has a bleeding heart and his expression is sincere. Nadine must have lost people she loved, with a number that high.
There's only five people currently alive on his earth, although one less with Jack here and adrift. He's hoping they can change that if he can just get back to it.
"You were a teacher?" His face lights up. "My mother taught me everything she could before she died. I thought maybe it would be nice to go to school someday." After a pause. "College, of course." Not younger than that! Jack does have a lot of knowledge, Kelly spent months training him in utero, but he lacked the social experience someone gets from all that time growing up with people.
"But I don't think they have that here. Or any schools. Not that I've noticed." Jack notices a great deal. He's very observant and quiet about it, and he's been teleporting around the city to get a better sense of the lay of the land.
