Jack has observed the sparse room and finally sits a respectful distance from her, blue eyes moving to fix on her. He has a tendency to stare a little forwardly at people without blinking much, but it's not an intense look, more a curious one. He likes people a lot and he is desperate for connection, but achieving that has seemed like a Herculean task.
"I went to a world like that. There were only some humans left, most everyone else was dead." Even the monsters were endangered species, mostly because there was no one to feed on. It was the angels who had all the power and presence there, and Jack fought them as best as he could. It was a dying world in the ways that mattered though, and the worst case scenario, not like his own. He was around that level of grief and strain though.
"I'm sorry you went through that. My friends who survived that place struggled a great deal with their feelings about it." Maggie is who he is thinking of, probably his only friend outside of his family. She's dead now, along with everyone else. But she adjusted well to the new world, better than he ever did.
