[ In some ways Jack is speaking to himself too. His parents weren't the ones who made him feel like he had to be perfect, that's a weight he put on himself, and so when he failed over and over again, he blamed himself. From the moment he was born he carried the weight of being Lucifer's son, and Dean said he was born to be evil, that he needed to be put down for the sake of everyone else. He carries that now, despite the years in-between, despite the work he's done to save worlds.

It's easier to tell someone else that they shouldn't carry that on them. Jesse has it, he can see that. Whatever his choices, whatever brought him to the person he is now, he holds it tightly to his chest. Jack wonders if letting it go is possible at a certain point, if either of them will one day release the past and put it behind them. He didn't expect to find common ground with anyone, and the details are vastly different, but the feeling, the crawling in their gut, it's the same. ]

If it died, she let it. All people are responsible for their choices. You and me, but her too.

[ Jack greets the world with deliberate honesty, and it means he can see things very clearly. He's never been allowed to hide from his mistakes for long. They've dug into him, written into the blood and Grace in his veins. He observes Jesse and sees the shrug, he sees the way he struggles to school his expression a certain way. Jack's face is always so open in comparison to others, he never learned how to mask. ]

I'm not used to talking to people for extended conversations. It's nice to know that, thank you. [ He's easy to talk to. Who would have thought? ] You can trust me with secrets. I wouldn't tell anyone even if I had anyone to tell them to, which I don't.
