[ Jack perks up a little at the idea. It's probably selfish to wish his family here when they had such a big duty to worry about, but they do better when they're working together. He knows if they met up, they would come up with a solution to solve everything, they always do. Trying to figure it out on his own may be too much of a big picture for Jack to accomplish. He knows his limitations as of right now. He's pretty much always following the plans of other people.

[ He's in a state of arrested development in many ways. He's older now with a heavier weight on his shoulders, and a very limited lifespan ahead of him as far as he knows. It's likely in his mind that he'll go back home only to die shortly after, destroying God in the process. It's his destiny. Billie said that, and she was a liar in many ways, but probably not about this.

So this is a break in the inevitability. He could have a little time before he dies. It could be nice. ]
