No, it didn't. But I wiped the memory of those in the government who could find us, at least.

[ Including Moira, for her own good. His decisions are not always correct and moral, and that was one of the questionable ones, but Charles feels certain it was the right course. The less people know about them the better. So despite the fact everyone does remember the conflict on the beach, the details are not remembered by those in charge, who tried to make the mutant branch in the first place. Charles will do what he must to protect his students now, after he failed them so thoroughly.

Erik's continued acceptance of his mistakes though does go a way toward making Charles see that perhaps he is headed toward a better understanding. Taking responsibility even when Charles is giving him an out, that he appreciates. His eyes gentle as they meet Erik's and he smiles faintly at him. ]

I use what tricks I have at my disposal.

[ Emotional manipulation is something he excels at! He understands emotions very well after all. But he was attempting to make a point and it's clear that Erik has taken that point, whether or not he's decided to agree to it. They move up in the line, they're almost at the front. He'll get his free samples and then maybe allow Erik to buy him one food item. Reluctantly. ]

Perhaps not. And then what purpose would Professor X and Magneto have in this new world?

[ It's said almost as a joke but it is completely serious at the same time. Charles has no idea what his purpose is outside of being the leader of the X-Men and a professor once more. ]
