[ Uncertainty is a very good word, actually. He's come to the realisation that his goals had been pushed to such an extreme that he knew he needed to find a different path, but he's still far from knowing where he should go from here. Finding a purpose now, when he has nothing, is so much harder than he thought it would be. Often he still struggles with the notion that he's abandoned his people, even when he knows that it's for the sake of all mutantkind that he had to go into hiding.

He sees little point in hiding who he is from her. She sounds so sure that she knows, like there is no doubt in her. And to hear her say that it's good to see him— he's fairly sure that no one from his life would be happy to see him right now. It is a small comfort to know that someone is, even if he doesn't know her at all. ]

Don't be. We all die one day, I don't fear it. [ He smiles, but it's faint and a brief thing. ] And I'd rather die for a cause than live without purpose.

[ Which essentially is how he's feeling in this very moment. ]
