[ If that earnest gratitude were an actual light it would have momentarily blinded Cassian. Alphinaud is nothing like Wilmon; no one who knew Wilmon would dare make the comparison. They have both clearly come from different walks of life from the way he holds himself and the way he speaks. But the way Alphinaud brightens reminds him so painfully of the young boy Wilmon had once been.

Try as he might, Cassian knew he could no longer draw a curtain across the cruelties of the world from Wilmon who had seen too much, felt too much, lost too much. All of this has nothing at all to do with teaching a kid how to drive a car - and he would have anyway. But this more or less cements a baseline level of care that Cassian would extend to him for as long as this driving lesson lasted.

That much he could at least offer. ]

Cassian.

[ Maybe that's also why he doesn't offer up a false name. Will this possibly come back and bite him in the ass? Yes. But he's about to give driving lessons, not embark on a mission. When they're both settled in the car he'll pointedly strap himself in before motioning to the ignition. ]

Putting the key in there will star the engine. But make sure your seat and mirrors are adjusted first. They'll help you see your blind spots.
