[ Jack is genuinely excited. He's smiling ear-to-ear. He's had meals with his family and the hunters before, but never with a brand new person, not like this. It feels so normal and thrilling. It does occur to him that he isn't well-versed in small talk, but luckily he's said enough about himself that Bob might have questions about hunters, like he does, instead of talking about the weather. ]

It's inherited. Dean and Sam, two of my fathers, their mother was one before them, and her father before. I don't know how far it went back, but I think a few generations. They took me in and raised me after my mother died at my birth.

[ There was never any paperwork because his father was evil, his mother was dead, and he wasn't a real person in a specific citizen sense. So Jack was just taken in and while Dean was very against him in the start, eventually he warmed up and he was accepted into the Winchester fold. Jack's very proud of that and of earning his place with them, after some serious ups and downs on the road to get there.

They didn't have much of a choice, it was kill him or raise him, but Jack is still grateful for it. ]
