Jack memorizes the symbols quickly and nods, running off without saying anything. The water is rising too quickly, no time to be polite. He goes back to the panel. This time he does notice the strange sudden darkness seeping in behind him. He frowns at it. "Stop it, I'm not going to let you kill him." Jack says sharply to whatever creature or entity is causing mischief. The symbols do blend together for a moment and he sees a figure, but his eyes glow sudden white as power pours through him, and it disappears all at once.

He's able to put them in without too much interference and considers finding the monster and killing it, but he has to make certain his friend is okay first. The code going in causes the door to open and the water to be sucked up into the sky, leaving John wet but no longer likely to drown. But the darkness is still there and Jack's fingers curl into a fist.

"You will stay away from us or you will die." He says to the encroaching shadows but then he leaves the panel and goes back inside, the glowing eyes fading back into normal blue by the time he sees John again. He lifts a hand to wave at him. "Hello! You made it. Also, we have to leave the building, there's a monster trying to kill you."
