Jack watches him wave his hand around. He can't really heal him without the other fingers otherwise he would have offered, he doesn't think he can grow back appendages for other people. His healing is strong but not that strong. It also probably would hurt Laszlo with holy fire so it's for the best that isn't an option.

This man seems to know what he's talking about. He's confident in how he talks and that plus his nice suit makes Jack think he may be wise. He doesn't know much about people who do normal jobs, just hunters. "I thought maybe my grandfather exiled me here, he was angry at me, but that wouldn't explain why everyone else shows up here too.
