[ You and him both, bub.

Logan shrugs. His eyes flick back to the thin pages while Scott makes more scribbles. He skirts over the real question (Was I not present?) and says casually, ]
Things got kinda shit for mutants. Guess Charles made a good case for working together.

[ Not a lie; not the whole truth. Whatever. It's enough for what Logan needs, which is for Scott to stop assuming he's that Logan who showed up on the institute's doorstep a few months ago and was half a step from running off again. Mostly 'cause he's not interested in pretending. Pretending to be unattached, acting like he and Charles haven't been close for years. That he hasn't watched the kids grow up a hell of a lot faster than they should've had to. That he's still searching for answers. He is, but not like that.

Either way, Scott's right: Scott didn't pick him, and there was never a moment where Logan joined. He didn't shake anybody's hand, didn't get a welcome package. Hell, he can't pinpoint when it happened. When he stuck around to sub for all of Scott's damn classes? When he flew back to New York after years away? Truth is, he just kept returning more, kept leaving less, and one day, it was hard for even him to deny that he wasn't an X-Man. In some capacity. ]
