( there is some magic where he is from, but gustave wouldn't equate it to just magic. chroma, lumina—they are all intrinsic parts of their growth and development as proud people of lumiere that started with science. he has no such gifts, in the sphere of magic, but he's certainly appreciative of it, of what all can be achieved through it.
