[ karen doesn't realize she'd been worried he'd have even heard of new york until there's a flash of recognition across his face. the relief she feels in that moment is palpable- not very well hidden as she keeps her attention on shopping, tries to actually look for some of these items she may or may not need. she has no clue what she's really supposed to be looking for, but she assumes just. things she might need for a couple of days. he mentioned a motel room, so...weekend stay. a couple of days at most. that she can work with.
