Charles used to be in perfect control of his gifts but even then large crowds gave him some struggles. Sorting through the vast majority of minds quickly took effort. But it's been years since he was this open and fragile to the loud voices around him. In his future, he was eventually able to balance his powers far better, able to silence an entire museum and pause everyone inside it. That is decades from now.

He can see her now that they're talking, having followed her voice to where she is astral projecting. He can't tell what she was precisely doing only that it opened her up to his accidental wandering. He's developed two way communication many times before but not quite like this.
