Jack watches him carefully and he at least understands 'code.' He has no idea what a code in this case would look like, but he'll try. Jack can't look in that room since he's on the outside of it, but just to be super thorough, he looks through everything in the adjourning room. There aren't papers and items like in there though, not places that would have things written down they could use, but he wants to be sure.

Jack looks around and steps out of view of the window, and searches, and that's when he finds the panel. It has a cover and it is sticky, some kind of substance on it, but Jack just slams his fist down on it and the panel snaps open. It's not as impervious as the door, luckily for them. He can see that there are buttons for a code to be in. There are shadows on the edges of where he is, but he isn't swept into anything left.

He returns to the room and writes down 'FOUND PANEL FOR CODE BUT NO CODE.' It seems like that's something his new friend must find. This is a two person job so it's a very good thing he came along, otherwise he would drown.
