[ By the time Karen gathers her bearings, Logan's half-pinned beneath the pulsing mass. It spiky leg's a half-inch from skewering his face when the shot rings out, echoing between the cramped diner walls. He takes the opportunity to swipe at its side. Some kinda thick fluid pours out of the gash. Then it flees straight up through the hole in the roof.

He scrambles to his feet. The thing she wounded behind the bar is crawling along bleeding out. He doesn't hesitate to finish it off. His claws sink into the amorphous shadow and comes out stained with the same oily black substance. The screech it makes is damn near sharp enough to shatter glass. He winces, ears ringing. Christ. But it has stopped moving. He nudges it with his foot. Only when he's sure it's dead and the others gone does he turn his attention to the woman. She's a stranger's face, but that's not unexpected. He's been here all of two weeks. Hasn't bothered making friends, to say the least. ]

Nice shot. [ His claws retract. In the near-complete dark, it's hard to tell exactly what that flash of silver is. Or where it went. ] You alright?

[ In the lull, he's got just enough time to get that question out before the skittering returns, distant but. More. Twice as fast, twice as many, rapidly closing in. You gotta be kidding. What the hell are those things? Obviously the reason why this diner's been abandoned, though who knows when it'll vanish completely. He's not sticking around for more shadow monsters, and he's not staying to see what fun new zone pops up. Last time he did that, he was stuck in a quagmire for an hour.

Without a second thought, he grabs her arm, pulling her along. ]
We gotta go, c'mon.

[ Hope she's got enough sense to start digging out her keys. ]
