[ If Amos went silent and stopped talking to him, Jack would know enough body language to stop trying. He's not completely oblivious, but he is usually seeking some kind of connection. Usually he has his family so he doesn't need anyone else, he's led a sheltered life where he isn't supposed to get other people involved in his dangerous situation, but he's alone here. It feels that way too, the full absence of the presence of his fathers who know how to guide him and focus his power and sincerity in the right direction.

Jack at first wonders if Amos is joking about him becoming a pro, but then he goes on to explain that he's being genuine, and he smiles, a flash of sunlight, delighted. ]

You think so? That's how it felt to me.

[ The first time he didn't make it far because he didn't have the balance down. The next time it was because he hadn't figured out the right speed and pressure on the brake. The third was solely a mistake from swooping a little too much while he was trying to avoid other people. But he thinks he mostly has it down now. He drives slowly and carefully so he's less likely to hurt anyone on the road.

The question about his family sobers him and he misses them. He only just got them back after being dead and planning on a suicide mission with Billie, and it was good being back home, feeling like a part of it again. He didn't mind that his life was going to end quickly again, because he was with them. It's different now. ]

We protect people, that's our job, it's a family business. We save lives. And there was someone who planned on hurting everyone. But without me there, I don't know if they can stop him.

[ Chuck literally was ending universes and Jack was the linchpin, he was their only hope, but he's here now. He's not there. He tried to open a portal and find a way back, but it doesn't work. ]
